PLAYING WITH PATTERNS

Build, Squeeze, Cover and Play with molten glass!
Workshop is for all skill levels!

This workshop will focus on building flat cane patterns that will be cased in clear glass. Using pre-made colored shapes, the students will create rectangular and square patterns.

Using traditional Italian techniques, the patterns will be fused in the hot shop, placed into a graphite mold and covered with hot glass from the furnace. The pieces will then be removed from the molds by attaching a punty rod to the center of the pattern. With help from John Miller and T.A., the students will manipulate the forms using heat, gravity and centrifugal force to create a unique, one of a kind glass object. No previous hot shop experience needed. Just bring creative enthusiasm!

This class will be very hands on, and you will get dirty, we promise!
