Start your Sunday off at a pre-lecture brunch at 1pm at the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, Florida with a complimentary mimosa and “meet and greet” the lecturing artists, Peter Houk, Martin Demaine, and Erik Demaine.Â
As a special thank you for attending the lecture, The Museum of Fine Arts is offering a 15% discount on the cost of the brunch. Use code “HotShop” when making phone reservations with the MFA or at the brunch itself. (This code cannot be used in conjunction with other promotions such as museum memberships.)
Then at 2pm, listen to the artists lecture about their specific work and inspiration. An Artists’ Reception and glass blowing demonstration at Duncan McClellan Gallery will follow the lecture.
Art meets science in the Glass Lab of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Glass Lab is continually involved with special projects and programs outside regularly scheduled classes. Some of these are ongoing, such as a collaboration with the Science and Engineering Program for Middle-School Students. Others, like the assignment to make lighting fixtures for Simmons Hall, are one-time adventures. Some involve interaction with other parts of the MIT community, and others bring the Lab into contact with life outside the Institute.
