Working with glass beyond traditional and functional forms, allows for the opportunity to investigate the relationships between multiple vessels and materials working in conjunction to create unique objects. I explore these options though size, color, juxtaposition, and the introduction of multiple mediums. Using cement, metals and various methods of the glass making process to create a single sculpture.
Building a language between these materials, creating energy within the work, I am then able to narrate a particular story through the intricacy and internal workings of the piece. Using universal symbols like that of a house, enables introspection from a starting point all viewers can reference.
The complexity of our daily life pushes my work to simplify to the essence and base form of any design. It is the industrial and architectural world we live in that continues to drive and inspire my art on a multitude of levels. My focus is to continually push the conceptual boundaries in visually striking ways, while perpetually evolving my forms and concepts.
