Course Description
Green up your life by doing something creative to help theenvironment! This is an exploration into recycling window glassto make fun sculptural pieces and architectural elements. Wewill delve into a really cool technique, to make open-faced moldsin the kiln. Glass chemistry, coloration, and firing temperatureswill be explained. It is a fantastic way to learn aspects of anywarm glass work while focusing on recycling!
Once you start down the path of recycled glass, you will seemore and more opportunities for experimentation around you.No prior experience is necessary – you are encouraged to bringin objects you’d like to cast in glass… and you will leave withsome very cool items!
In all practicality each student will make a bas-relief glasscasting with or without coloration. This can be hung from wallor window or mounted in frame. Size depends slightly on kilnavailability, but at least a 10”x10”
