Glass artist Kelly O’Dell was born in Seattle, raised in Kona, Hawai’i, and lives in the Pacific Northwest corner of the US.  When she was very young, her artistic parents made their living using stained glass, blown glass, and glass pressed flowers. While seeking her college education years later, she discovered glass as her primary focus at the University of Hawai’i. The BFA program there offered her many opportunities to work on staff and study at Pilchuck Glass School (Stanwood, WA), eventually relocating there as a member of the William Morris Glass Team.

Influenced by her upbringing in an abundance of nature and thriving ecosystems, her work mainly examines species extinction, conservation, and human impact on the natural world. Exhibiting her work internationally, O’Dell dedicates herself to teaching glass sculpture at various educational facilities around the world. She and her  husband, glass artist  Raven Skyriver, have a son, Wren (a budding scientist and glass artist). They have just built their dream glass studio at their home on Lopez Island.

Recent solo exhibitions include the Museum of Northwest Art and the Pittsburgh Glass Center. Recent group exhibitions include the Whatcom Museum, Tacoma Museum of Glass, the Fuller Craft Museum, and The Glasmuseum Lette of Coesfeld, Germany. Collections include the Tacoma Museum of Glass Permanent Collection, the Kamm Teapot Foundation, the Washington State Art Collection,  the Robert M. Minkoff Foundation, and the Glasmuseum Lette Collection.
