Description
John Brekke is an American artist living in Brooklyn, New York, whose works focus on the visual line in abstract and figurative contexts. This attention to line appears in the multiple forms of his art: drawing, painting, and glass. His unique iconography offers animal imagery and textile messaging to communicate relevant social commentary. Brekke received a Fulbright Scholarship to travel to Australia where he created his Narrative Overlay series. He has shown internationally and his work is included in a number of permanent collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum – Renwick Gallery, Corning Museum of Glass, and Museum of Art & Design. John has worked on site specific installations and commissions for private clients.
