Description
I have always loved the bird’s-eye view, looking down on the ocean and land, and thought how incredible it would be to soar along with the clouds. I grew up along a dramatic coastline, experiencing large tides and the landscape changing multiple times a day, the winds changing the surface of the sea and the sky above. I try to take note of these changes and capture the feeling of them in the glass that I create.
Water birds are so much fun to sculpt out of glass. They are so beautiful and lend themself well as subjects. The bird form has been ever present in my work. To me it is a reminder of place and home. Translating the bird shape into glass has been challenging, but the graceful lines and curves lend themselves well as a canvas for the patterns and feelings I create.
