Hot Gatherings/Cool Conversations/ Wine and lecture series Museum of Fine Arts, St. PetersburgMeet visiting artist Nancy Callan over a glass of wine as she discusses her work and career with a visual presentation.Callan, a Seattle based glassblower, pioneered women’s roles in studio glass, and has worked closely with renowned glassblowers such as Lino Tagliapeitra. Her exhibition “Over the Top” opens at the Duncan McClellan Gallery Saturday, February 14,from 5:30pm-9:30pm.
Fri, February 13, 3pm – 4pm Artist talk with Nancy Callan Morean Arts Center Join Nancy Callan, participating artist in Italian Traditions, current temporary exhibition at the Chihuly Collection on view through April 19. Nancy Callan is a renowned glass artist with a BFA from Mass.College of Art, and trained with Lino Tagliapietra and John Brekke. After Nancy’s talk watch a live glassblowing demonstration From 4-6pm with glass artists Jason Christian, at the Morean Hot -Shop. Following the demonstration join Nancy and Jason at the Duncan McCllellan Gallery from 6:30 -8:00 for a cocktail and appetizer reception.
noon: Watch Nancy Callan, assisted by Jason Christian create a special hot glass masterpiece in the Duncan Mcclellan Gallery’s 2400 square foot “Hot Shop”, and join them at the Museum of Fine Arts for an intimate brunch at 1:30pm.These events precede their 3pm lecture at the Museum, part of their “Hot Gatherings, Cool Conversations” lecture series.
