Mark your calendars – Nancy Callan will be returning to St. Petersburg as our featured artist in April, 2017.
Callan’s glass career spans over 20 years and has taken her around the world as a guest artist and educator. A graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, she became an integral part of maestro Lino Tagliapietra’s team in 1996, where she learned and developed advanced cane and murrini techniques from the Maestro.
The concepts of ‘play’ and ‘fun’ are very important to Callan in her artistic process. She seeks joy in the making, and in the visual/optic play of her finished artworks. Nancy Callan was featured in a group show we hosted Feb 2015 with Laura Donefer, Jeff Mack and Jason Christian. All were present for the opening weekend and it was a fabulous time all-around. Next Spring will be Callan’s first solo-show with the Duncan McClellan Gallery.
Callan has many teaching opportunities and residencies ahead of her this year; we’re excited to see how her art develops and look forward to showcasing her new works.
