The Duncan McClellan Gallery proudly presents a special Holiday Exhibit with local master glass blowers, Jacob Stout and Charles Savoie plus other St. Pete Hot Glass Gaffers.
At 5pm on December 14th, the gallery doors will open to reveal one of a kind blown glass that is perfect for holiday gifts. From bowls and paperweights to decorative cylinders and intricate goblets, you will truly enjoy shopping local at the gallery. If you have larger gifts in mind, the sculptural glass of Duncan McClellan, Stephen Pon, David Patchen and many others will also be on exhibit and for sale.
While you browse, enjoy an adult beverage for a donation from our custom bars (All donations benefit the DMG School Project).
About the artists:
Jacob Stout
Master glassblower, Jacob Stout, joined the St. Pete hot Glass team during the Summer of 2012. Relocating from Baltimore, MD, Jacob brings with him 15 years of glassblowing and hot shop management experience. In his role as St Pete Hot Glass Director, Jacob teaches public glass blowing classes, manages his apprentices and creates new works of his own including a new piece to be unveiled on Second Saturday.
Charles Savoie
Charles Savoie is a master glassblower who is nationally recognized for his Italian style series of Zanfirico goblets. Zanfirico refers to a type of latticino cane made of colored glass rods that are twisted together to create complex patterns. His goblets are a technical marvel not only in their perfect form, which borders on the non-functional as some pieces are as tall as fifteen inches, but also because of his expertise in glass chemistry. Charles makes all his own glasses from scratch, combining sand and metallic oxides; sometimes using 17th century Venetian and Bohemian formulas which he modifies. Because of this unusual commitment to the science of glass, he has formulated a material with special working qualities and a unique color palette that has been essential in creating his signature style.
Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday, noon-5pm and by appointment.
